Seven months ago, we presented the BertO Atelier Collection and in particular, we presented, Emilia and Vanessa, two very distinct armchairs.
Driven by the desire to look for, a decorative element suitable for: the living room, the bedroom, the study, and so forth, we began working on the construction of two prototypes in the beginning of 2015.
The first prototype made in the Berto laboratory in Meda was the armchair Vanessa. We presented it to a group of young designers working on the project CasaFlora to illustrate the steps it takes from its conceptual beginning to the final product.
We explained that we imagined a chair that could fit well in any corner of the house perhaps alongside modern sofas in an elegant and sophisticated environment. We played with color combinations, different fabrics textures and of course, with soft full-grain leathers.
As a result, the Vanessa armchair has a modern ultra-sleek high back that supports the head, then wraps graciously around the shoulders, and gently falls to the front. In the fabric version, Vanessa has a completely removable slipcover; her elegant charm comes from an adhesion process between the outer cover and the padding.
The Emilia armchair on the other hand has a low back, the same polyurethane hand-carved foam core, which bonds to the cover, like Vanessa however, Emilia’s proportions are slightly different, both armchairs easily find their natural place alongside linear or modern sofas, with the added benefit of also fitting well in other environments. Emilia’s iconic elegance and comfort, for example also make it the perfect choice for the bedroom.
The Emilia and Vanessa armchairs are available with chromed steel feet or with a chromed steel swivel base. In fact, their success was immediate in Italy and abroad, because they decorate in harmony most any room. More recently, they were chosen to furnish the interiors of two prestigious hotels one in Passo del Tonale, Italy and the other in the Caribbean.
Emilia and Vanessa, like every model from the Berto catalog, can be customized in dimensions, finishes and details of your choice. We have made hundreds of variations: wooden feet, with special head and backrests, we even created an ottoman with the same characteristics and of course, you can use any kind of fabric upholstery, from linen to velvet or full-grain leather.
